About Us
The Friends of Aldercrest is a non-profit organization formed by members of the Shoreline and Lake Forest Park community with a commitment to preserving the legacy of Aldercrest Annex, former site of Kellogg Middle School, as a public asset. Help us preserve this beautiful property for the community!
In fall 2008, the Shoreline School District declared Aldercrest Annex at 2545 NE 200th St. as surplus. Before any further steps were taken on its sale, the City of Shoreline and NEC Municipal Jail consortium nominated Aldercrest Annex as a possible regional jail location. The fight against the jail continues, but once this property is off the NEC regional jail list, the School District will sell the property if no other public entity, like City of Shoreline, shows interest.
While we are strong supporters of the School District, we believe the property should continue to serve as an asset to the community that provides public open space and recreational opportunities in a neighborhood where few other options exist. We hope to convince the school Board to give us the time and the opportunity to make this vision a reality!
