We had a great day on Saturday, May 12, cleaning up the garbage and weeds at Aldercrest Annex. The sun was shining and weather was excellent.  A big thank you to all that showed up to help; and a thank you to Girl Scout Troop No. 40298, Jessica, Alea, Naomi, Hailey, and troop leader Sheryl, for coming to help.  The fence line, tennis court, and the area in general looks much better.

On May 12, 2012, 10:00-12:00 join your neighbors to help pick up garbage and perform other clean up tasks at Aldercrest Annex! If you haven’t done it before, it is actually a lot of fun and the more helpers we have the easier the work. Bring work gloves, gas-powered weed trimmers, rakes and all your friends! We’ll meet along 25th Ave NE next to the softball diamond. Wear boots because the grass can get VERY muddy in spring. See you there!

School District Delays Sale of Aldercrest Indefinitely

In August 2011, the Shoreline School District issued a Request for Proposals to solicit potential buyers for the Aldercrest Annex. The District received several offers, but due to the depressed real estate market, none were deemed to offer enough value for the District. Thus, according to Superintendent Sue Walker, the District has decided to postpone sale of the property for the time being.

What does this mean for us? The Friends of Aldercrest will continue to work with the Ballinger Neighborhood Association, city, School District and other willing partners to maintain the site as a safe and enjoyable neighborhood asset. If you would like to get involved in site clean-up efforts or other activities, please get in touch!
